How should I set up my artwork ready for printing?

As a litho and digital printing company, we come across artwork files set up in all sorts of programs including InDesign, Quark, Publisher and even Word!

For the best results you should ideally use a professional program such as Quark or Indesign with all images set up as CMYK and not RGB. 3mm bleed should be added and a hi-res PDF created. It is important that the fonts are either embedded or outlined, which will prevent them corrupting when they are processed through the printer's rip. It is also best to set the file up as single pages, rather than printer's spreads.

At Marstan Press we provide quality print services for clients across Kent, London and the wider UK. If you are interested in extending your printing knowledge, we run a free monthly print induction day.
